P l a t i n u m P r o t o c o l s

Welcome to Platinum Plumbob!

This forum was designed and created in the wake of the end of The Sims 2 UK forums September 2007. Most of the members did not like the fact we were also sharing with the rest of the EA UK community and the new system. Therefore, a group of TS2UK regulars including Me,Kristina-Leigh, Beth, Emily, Becky and Scarlett, began to discuss creating our own forums.

We had in mind to make the forums like TS2UK where we can experience a strong friendly community presence but better! (Basically meaning we put in certain features that we were not allowed on TS2UK).

Anyway, this forum is dedicated to The Sims 2 in general. From Plumbobs to Mrs Crumplebottom, you can discuss it here.

Contributing

Being an active member involves contributing in one way or another. Post in threads; make your own, taking part in games or Sim Challenges and of course making your own.

If you see someone who is also contributing and they might be doing it in an improper manner or they are new and need to be guided, please calmly explain to them how things are done around here and leave it at that. If the problem persists, notify a staff member. In doing so you’re keeping the forums friendly.

If you have any ideas or suggestions on what we could add to the boards then please feel free to PM either myself or Kristina-Leigh. Please don’t keep it to yourself if you think we could make the forums a better place to spend time.

Spam

No, not the variety that’s in a tin and that your grandparents still eat. If you’re less internet savvy than the average user, the word ‘spam’ refers to unnecessary posting around the forums. It can take a few forms such as, advertising, pornography, bots etc. All of which are not permitted at these forums.

As for unnecessary, random posting, for the time being I’d like to encourage it!

“Surely not!?” I hear you say. Well… randomness makes life interesting doesn’t it?

We want to earn a reputation for being laid back here unlike the EA forums so feel free to be as random as you like…. Don’t over do it though.

Rules

1. Language

1.1 This is an English speaking forum and we’d like to keep it that way. Pfft, if you haven’t been able to understand a word of this so far, you’re probably better of steering clear. If you are however, confident enough with English to take a stab, then you’re very welcome to do so. Using English more will probably help you learn more!

1.2 Swearing. Now on these forums, we are fairly laid back so we allow profanity to an extent, however we do want to maintain a friendly environment and also one that can be used by all ages. So yes you can swear, but excessive and hateful profanity will probably lead to a tightening of the rules.

1.3 Please refrain from using text talk at all times as it's often the case that it's difficult to understand. Please use standard English at all times.

2. Advertising

2.1 This includes linking your site via inappropriate threads. We discourage this at these forums and please don’t do it otherwise we will remove your posting rights.

2.2 “Fansite Central” is for the use of Sims 2 fansite owners to promote their website and for affiliates of PlatinumPlumbob, not other unrelated commercial sites.

2.3 Advertising via your profile/signature is permitted. It’s your decision what you wish to do with the space.

3. Staff

3.1 Staff members include administrators and moderators, in short, members who go around fixing things and maintaining the forums without demanding money in return.

3.2 Please don’t ask for a position among staff, if/when a moderator(s) is needed, we will find someone appropriate to fill the void.

3.3 Current staff member(s):

Ps. For any of you who think it’s clever to point out the fact that “Plumbob” isn’t spelt properly and it’s spelt “plumbbob”, frankly, we don’t give a toss.

“Plumbbob” didn’t look right so we stuck with “Plumbob”

Sorry to ruin anyone’s fun there.
